PLOT

based on the eponymous novel by Craig Russell

A long wisp of red hair, scalped victims, crimson colour… The crime-scenes offer terrifying cruelty to Jan Fabel and his colleagues Maria Klee and Anna Wolff, of the Hamburg Murder squad.

There is a connection between all of the victims – they’ve known each other since students’ days, where they’ve been active in the left political scene with esoteric Beate Brandt.

Brandts son Thomas appears during a background check on his mother. He was recently released on bail and has a striking outer appearance because of his long red hair. Unfortunately the wisp of hair found on the crime scenes are 20 to 40 years old, nevertheless the suspicion remains.

In the 80s industrialist Theodor Wiedler got killed in an act of Terror, performed by an association of six people, grouped around Thomas father Franz Mühlhaus. The nowadays murderer’s victims and Beate Brand presumably have been the other group members.

By committing suicide, Brand raises new puzzles and questions to Jan Fabel and police psychologist Susanne Eckhardt. Is there a connection between the old case and the current killing spree?

Fabel and his team get the decisive factor by having a look at old photographical material. There’s a young boy that’s committed to a policeman’s care…
